Over the last decades, the rapid effects of global change, mostly related to population growth, hectic production systems, and environmental and climate variations, have shown the paramount importance of environmental sustainability\r\n for the livelihoods of Earth’s population and should be managed as a cross-cutting priority. Particular attention should be paid to low-income contexts, where a variety of imbalance and vulnerability factors might threaten or irreversibly\r\n affect the integrity of the last remaining near-natural ecosystems.<\/p>\r\n

In this framework, the UNESCO Chair in Engineering for Human and Sustainable Development launched the first edition of ESIC\u2019s<\/em>, a cycle of Environmental Sustainability and International Cooperation\r\n webinars aimed at exploring, together with actors of international cooperation and researchers, key environmental challenges of international interest and possible ways forward, drawing from the state of science and from the experience\r\n of local contexts. In each webinar a specific topic will be interactively discussed: e.g., water resources, WASH, agriculture, hydrogeological risk and energy.<\/p>\r\n

    Rigenera Montagna<\/em> is an educational initiative focused on the use of resources and the meaning of places through the perspective of younger generations. Within this framework, the Chair contributed to training activities organised\r\n with the schools involved, with particular attention to biodiversity, river morphology, water resource management, and territorial information systems, also ensuring the active participation of researchers and students.<\/p>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

      Education to Global Citizenship<\/em> is a two-week educational module addressed to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade high school students at Liceo Da Vinci in Trento.
